Poet David L. Harrison posts on his blog a word of the month, or W.O.M, which readers use as a poetry writing prompt. He posts the word on or around the first day of the month, and readers respond by posting the poem they’ve created from it in the response section. At the end of the month, after reading them, he deletes them all and starts over. He first told me (and others) about it when he was a guest speaker at the Getting the Gigs workshop I ran for Highlights Foundation last month. It sounded like an excellent way to get readers’ creative juices flowing, and I think I’ll try it here–posting a word on or around the 15th of each month. Have fun with it.
May’s word is FLAVOR.
